I’m so sick of watching my beloved Cardinals implode this season. They go from beating the #15 team in the nation, to losing at UConn…eesh. No chance of a BCS bowl this year, and I’m ready to face the fact that there won’t be any bowl this year.
This coming on the heels of a 11-1 season last year that, save a bad quarter at Rutgers, would have seen Louisville destroy the joke that was The Ohio State University (I’m sorry, but adding the “the” to Ohio State University is just ghey, and capitalizing it is mega ghey) for the National Championship. A BCS bowl we got, but no national title game, being a one-loss Big East team…too many folks decry the Big East when I think you can say much worse about the PAC-10, the Big Ten, and the ACC. We did dispatch our bowl opponent, and finished with a 12-1 record. In fact, the Big East went 5-0 in bowl games.
It’s hard to watch your team crumble…it’s hard to watch your QB, who should be in the running for the Heisman, who came back to contend for the national title, playing for nothing when he could be in the NFL now…and it’s even harder seeing what Gramps has got going on down the road in Lexington (no, I don’t hate UK…and I’m happy for their success…but couldn’t it come without our self-destruction?)
Kragthorpe is too much of a “players” coach, whereas Petrino was an “in your face” coach. The lack of discipline is evident on the sideline and in the games. The lack of discipline translates into the penalties we rack up. The lack of emotion is evident during the games. The lack of any true coaching strategy is evident during the games. I have no clue what sort of “hands on” Kragthorpe is doing in terms of the defense…but I think it’s safe to say he isn’t getting anything done.
The disaster at Kentucky would have never have happened with Petrino coaching…I don’t think Kragthorpe had any emotion during that game, which is bad, considering ol’ gramps (Rich Brooks) was putting on quite a show. What is he, like 80?
We now sit at 4-4 with four games left…and those include South Florida (#2 in the current BCS standings, but that’ll change since they lost to Rutgers), #9 West Virginia, and Rutgers, which just knocked off South Florida. Heck, I don’t even know that we can consider Pitt a win…we’ve already lost twice at Papa John’s this year…including a loss to woeful and pathetic Syracuse. Syracuse. We were 37 point favorites as I recall. So, prove me wrong Kragthorpe…win out and I’ll apologize and become a fan…or do what I expect you to do, and I’ll become even more vocal about you needing to go. I guess one plus to Tom Jurich keeping you around for a couple of seasons means a wealth of season tickets become available…but I’d rather see you hit the road, tulsa boy.
Another blogger has a great post on the way our offense klunked in the game against Uconn. With the talent we have on offense, there is NO EXCUSE for this Kragthorpe. Your play calling is hit or miss…and at times, it’s miss the broad side of a barn. Like tonight. Louisville = Duke…I shudder at the thought! And yet, I know it’s true…
Here’s a great site to expand upon the whole firing Kragthorpe thing…and if you’re a Louisville fan who would love to see Kragthorpe go, make sure you email Tom Jurich to let him know exactly how you feel.
I’m too upset to type much more…because I know I’ll go off and become rabid. But I’m so ready for football season to end and basketball to start. I think I’m even getting wistful for the Ron Cooper days…nah, not really…but I’d take John L. back, that’s for sure…nah, not really.

i agree with you on the lack of discipline…i have NEVER seen a Louisville team act like they did in west virginia. and that idiot defends the hudlums! like we are BLIND! Of course the louisville player spit in pat white’s face!!!!!!
what is this, blacksburg,VA?

Lack of discipline is just one of the issues, but they do not get much worse.
As a ‘ville fan, I’d like to say he didn’t. The video evidence isn’t very conclusive, but I don’t see why White would make it up.
My hope is he’s just a spit-talker, and didn’t mean to. But with Special K at the helm, all bets are off.

This is what they were saying abour Rich Books 4 years ago. You can not take shortcuts and should not expect a team to just pick up where they left off when the coaching staff leaves…that is not a fair expectation.

Huge difference in the situation Gramps got at UK (a team on probation with limited scholarships), and what Special K was handed at Louisville. And come on…it’s UK football…
Also huge difference in expectations. I don’t recall Gramps coming in to Lexington crowing about having the mindset to play for a national title…I don’t recall Gramps being such a huge pre-season favorite…But Special K himself was the one who helped give us the expectation, saying he had that mindset…
And sheesh…UK is what, 7-4 and getting ready to taste the sting of yet another stomping via the Vols…I am still less than impressed with Gramps. I hope he stays at UK until he dies.
Only problem was, Special K didn’t have a plan in place to pull it off. He hadn’t prepared his team. His coaching decisions have bordered on silly to pure amateurish.
It isn’t that just the fans expected it…Special K fed that expectation…and he couldn’t deliver. And he’s done nothing to make us believe he can deliver.

I found your website to be most helpful as it gave me the e-mail address of U of L’s atheletic address and allowed me the opportunity to suggest considering Coach/Offensive Coordinator Sherman Lewis as a future candidate should Coach Kragthorp decide to leave U of L or things just plain don’t work out. I am of the belief that we shouldn’t “kick the guy when he is down” and that we should give him time to work his magic…. but I just want your viewers as well as Mr. Jurich to know that there is a guy out there who I believe has more Super Bowl rings than anyone else who is not coaching today. I am speaking about one of Louisville’s great Icons (Atheletes). Sherman Lewis played for the great unbeaten 1959 Manual High School Football team, was runner up for the Heismann Trophy losing to Roger Staughback when he played for Michgan State, and has been Offensive Coordinator for the Green Bay Packers, San Francisco 49ers, Minnesota Vikings in their glory years. The thing that most impressed me about Sherman Lewis was that in 1959 he broke the state high school 100 yard dash record at 9.8 seconds. So my take on this is …. give Kragthorpe a chance to turn things around but if things don’t work out …. give Coach Sherman Lewis a call!

Special K has managed very easily to take the football program into mediocrity. Recruiting will suffer, fan support will suffer, and we will be nothing more than a doormat to the rest of the Big East. If I was Tom Jurich, I would put a permanent hold on the stadium expansion as I can’t see why more people would want to watch a coach or team that lacks discipline and desire.

Are you true fans? Ask yourselves that. The Cards had a bad year, but who’s to say whats in store for them this season. Dont knock what you dont know.

I just watched U of L be humiliated by a poor wretch UK team with a QB who only had a few COMPLETIONS coming into the game. Credit UK for their win. We have GOT to get this guy out of Louisville. He has dismantled our team and wreaked havoc on our fan base. What can we do to get him out of here? We don’t want to alienate TJ to the point where he would leave but Kragthorpe was a mistake and we have GOT to get him out.

I would suggest sending e-mails to Tom Jurich at jurich@louisville.edu. Call the radio stations, write the newspapers, but just get the word out. There is no way Petrino was as bad as Jurich and others are trying to make him out to be. If this was the case, then Jurich is guilty for rewarding Petrino with the mega contract. It seems to me Coach K is over his head and the program is heading into an oblivion.
Has anyone seen his recruiting? This damage will take 3-5 years to fix. I am a season ticket holder and don’t even want to attend the games this year.
